Jonathan Brito reflection 2

March 27, 2023 Jonathan Brito Professor Sinkoff SPC1017 Group 1 Presentation: "The Pursuit of Happiness" The first group's presentation was titled "The Pursuit of Happiness" and focused on the concept of happiness and how it can be achieved. The presentation started by defining happiness as a state of mind characterized by positive emotions such as joy, contentment, and satisfaction. The group then explored various theories of happiness, including the hedonic theory and the eudaimonic theory. The hedonic theory suggests that happiness is achieved by maximizing pleasure and minimizing pain, while the eudaimonic theory emphasizes the importance of purpose, meaning, and personal growth in achieving happiness. The group also discussed the role of positive psychology in promoting happiness, and presented several strategies for cultivating happiness, including practicing gratitude, engaging in positive self-talk, and participating in activities that bring joy and mean...

Reflection #2

Isabela Zorro Professor Sinkoff SPC1017 The theme of the second project was happiness and its different characteristics. To begin with, the first group presented the topic of paying it forward, where they explained that paying it forward can be an act of generosity and charity, just as they explained to us that paying it forward can change someone's circumstances without us realizing that in We are really making a change for the better in his life where that person will feel happy and loved. Apart from all this information, what I liked the most and found interesting was how they put educational videos where they explained this topic in more depth. Apart from that, they added images, graphs, and educational examples where they show the topic in more depth and with more detail. Honestly, I enjoyed this presentation because they used examples from everyday life, and the truth is that in most of them, I identified. Paying it forward also helps us grow as people because since we are ha...

Melissa Reflection 2

Melissa Rios Prof. Sinkoff SPC1017 Happiness is an important aspect of society as it is closely related to the well-being and quality of life of individuals. However, achieving happiness in society is a complex issue that is influenced by various factors. Happiness was the overall theme for our projects and each group was able to evaluate the different ways that society is led to and experiences this emotion.  Firstly, we began with group one which went over chapters 1,2,6,7, and 8. Their topic was "Paying it Forward". This group described what it does for those receiving it, giving it, and the overall way it affects society. Their slides were more on the minimalist side with some pictures and videos. However, this was a clean aesthetic and allowed the audience to better understand their points of conversation. The educative videos were also super entertaining and their pictures right to the point. Also, I liked how they spoke on how the concept of Paying it Forward date bac...

Reflection#2

Hailey Fernandez 03/24/2023        I would first like to start this blog off by saying that everyone did an amazing job, and these presentations were top tier. I never realized how much happiness reflects on our society as a whole and on us as people. The amount of happiness or unhappiness in cultures, society, and we as individuals that are present is mind-blowing. I learned so much from each presentation that I had never thought about before.      I will begin with my group first; group two. Our group project theme was based on happiness within cultures and society. Happiness can be found anywhere and within the smallest of things whether its food or family or religion. There is always something to be happy about. Certain cultures may express happiness in a different way. Hispanics express their culture through food and family gatherings such as quinzcenieras and Dia de los Muertos. Other cultures such as India express their cultural happiness throug...

Joshua Blog 2

Hi, my name is Joshua Espinoza and today I am going to be reviewing and critiquing the second group project that was assigned to the class. Group one based their presentation on paying it forward. Paying it forward is an interesting topic because how it can basically make someone’s entire day or possibly their week. I like how the group included what paying it forward can do to the receiver because it can mean the world to them, We never know what anyone goes through therefore, paying it forward can mean so many different things. It could be that the person was a few bucks short and weren’t able to pay, or that they are just unhappy, and the gesture shows how’s there’s still kindness in the world and that there is always something to look forward to. In the presentation I also thoroughly enjoy how it is explained that paying it forward is also great for the person that does it. It helps ease their mind a bit and know that they did a small part to make the worl...

Maria's Reflection 2

Maria De Sousa Prof. Sinkoff SPC1017            Happiness was the overall theme for these presentations. In group one, we learned about paying it forward. We were informed about what it does for the receiver, mind, and body, society, etc. Group one not only focused on paying it forward but also included entertaining videos that have a message, history of paying it forward, and different ways you can pay it forward, but they also included cultural ways and how they themselves pay things forward. Their presentation was very nice. It contained useful information as well as some 'fun facts' about their topic. The group made it easy to see what was on the presentation, and they even added a table, images, and videos to help us get a better understanding of their topic as well as give us a visual presentation. I enjoyed how they gave us examples and ways of paying it forward just in case we wanted to, but didn't know how to. They focused on explaining how w...
