Reflection

February 6, 2023 Hailey Fernandez Everyone had a certain topic for each presentation and I believe that everyone did amazing. The topics were covered with research and text from the book and there were informational videos to help us as listeners understand examples of what was being taught to us. I feel that everyone did their very best and each presentation was presented with clear and concise descriptions and wording. In this blog, I will be talking about all the different presentations and groups and what I learned from each one. Know that this is how I truly felt and I hope to offend no one. We all at the end of the day did our best and we should all pat ourselves on the back.  I'd like to first start off with my group; group two. I loved the pictures and videos that were part of each of our presentations. The types of groups and descriptions that were given were easy to understand. Family and all kinds of social and emotional groups are really important in keeping balanc...

Joshua Group Reflection

Hi, my name is Joshua.     I learned a lot from the first group presentation. I enjoyed learning about ideal vs. real culture and understanding how ideal the way one expects things to be while real culture is how things would truly occur in a real case scenario. The co culture slide is a good because it is short and simple to understand for example, two friends in a larger group of people being close because they share the same beliefs, interest, etc. Sometimes the simplicity in an explanation gets more across than a long, messy, and hard to understand explanation. The slides that mention sex, gender, religion, and sexual orientation are eye catching to me because it comes to show how these groups of people have come together to believe or to fight for something that they truly believe in or identify with. The mention in the age differences comes to show how different age groups have different things when it comes to life experience, life intellect, physical ability, et...

Melissa's Reflection

Melissa Rios                       Our class consisted of  splitting  up into three groups and discussing various important topics. Each of these groups created extremely educative while still being aesthetically pleasing Presentations. With the help of PowerPoint, Group one, which consisted of Angeline Pierre, Brian Cuervo, Alexandra Dolly, Jose Lucas, GC Lopez, Camila Lima, Carlos Garcia, Celin Garcia, and Jordan Laine, spoke on intercultural communications, which is chapter 3. I enjoyed how they spoke on the realities of different cultures and included examples of cultures throughout history. Moreover, the differences between race and ethnicity were very well explained by  Angeline. However, I feel that it lacked a little bit of creativity and pictures, maybe a couple more examples would have made it that much more interesting. Brian then explains the top...

Reflection

Isabela Zorro 2/5/2023 Professor Sinkoff SPC1017         To begin with, each group had to present a chapter of the book that was assigned, and to be honest, each group achieved the main objective, which was the understanding of their audience. I would like to start by giving my opinion on what I liked the most about the presentations and what I learned the most. According to group one, they presented chapter 3, which was about intercultural communication; the truth is that I really enjoyed this presentation since group one explained to us about the different cultures in our society, such as religion, gender and sex, socioeconomic status, generation, and age, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, chronic, and more. Something that caught my attention was that some members of the group used examples from their daily lives for our understanding. In my opinion, I feel that the presentation of group one was very well organized, and apart from the info...

In this reflection, I want to share how I felt about one's presentation. To begin , I enjoyed group one's presentation. It looks very colorful and draws my attention. I liked how group one presented on how different cultures communicate. The part that stood out to me the most was when they talked about age and gender. It was educational to learn about the different generation titles.         ...

Maria's Reflection

Maria De Sousa Prof. Sinkoff SPC1017              Many groups gave a presentation talking about specific things applied in their chapter. I enjoyed them all and can see the hard work people have put into their presentations. Group one’s presentation was very informative and introduced us to intercultural communication. I enjoyed the fact that they gave many examples of what makes people who they are, whether it’s someone's background, sex, religion, social status, generation, etc. Group one also included examples within the examples such as explaining collective cultures and individualistic cultures. Later on, they go on to give detailed information on how these things can change the way we think. Towards the end, I really enjoyed how they gave us ways to better understand others. They gave us tips such as being informed about other cultures, being open-minded, having the right attitude, and learning how to develop social and communication skills. For ...
