I would first like to start this blog off by saying that everyone did an amazing job, and these presentations were top tier. I never realized how much happiness reflects on our society as a whole and on us as people. The amount of happiness or unhappiness in cultures, society, and we as individuals that are present is mind-blowing. I learned so much from each presentation that I had never thought about before.
I will begin with my group first; group two. Our group project theme was based on happiness within cultures and society. Happiness can be found anywhere and within the smallest of things whether its food or family or religion. There is always something to be happy about. Certain cultures may express happiness in a different way. Hispanics express their culture through food and family gatherings such as quinzcenieras and Dia de los Muertos. Other cultures such as India express their cultural happiness through religion and festivals/holidays. Happiness within society could mean different things. No one person is the same. You can experience happiness in many ways. Happiness is supposed to bring positive feelings of enjoyment and fulfillment to a person. It’s a warm and comfortable feeling that everyone should get to experience. Relationships within family and friends can bring happiness. Getting a good grade on an exam can bring happiness and achievement. Other ways that happiness within society can be beneficial are:
1. Happiness within work: people feel content to wake up and go to a healthy work environment
2. Happiness with mental and physical health: getting enough sleep, eating healthy, exercising, etc
3. Happiness, encouragement, and love from family and friends: family support and unconditional love from friends and family can make someone happy and feel welcome
There are many factors and ways that happiness can be expressed. The presentations and video representation were clear and informative. I felt like I really understood what was being spoken and I could relate to some of the information provided. The video examples were fun to watch and gave me more in-depth interpretation of the material. I truly enjoyed the presentation, and everyone worked very hard to make it presentable and enjoyable.
The second group I will talk about is group one. Group one’s topic was on paying it forward meaning doing a good deed for someone or something else. Imagine you are walking down the street and a sweet elderly lady is walking beside you, but she drops the bag of groceries she is carrying. Would you help her or shrug the help that she may need? Imagine you bend down to pick up the contents that were on the floor and put them in her bag and hand it to her. You turn to her, and she gives you the brightest smile and she says, "thank you." The next day, the elderly lady helps another elderly lady cross the sidewalk to get to the other side and the pattern of events goes on. By doing one good deed, you create a chain reaction for others and something positive happens. Now imagine someone watches you help the elderly lady and now that person wants to do something good so the next day, he or she opens the door for someone. No deed is too small to have meaning. The world especially right now could use as much positivity and kindness as it can get. The video that was played during group one’s presentation was my favorite part. The video was cute and showed amazing representation on paying it forward. I’m a sucker when it comes to animated videos. I feel that this presentation resonated a lot with me because I am the type of person who helps those who are in need. I enjoy opening doors or carrying something for someone. I was taught to help or be kind no matter the reason, especially to the elderly. I believe that everyone should have this mindset and I hope that group one’s presentation opened people’s hearts and mind to paying it forward.
The third group I will be talking about is group three. Group three’s presentation was on self-care and treating your body right. Having a healthy mental and physical lifestyle is a must for a happy life. Getting 9 hours of sleep, meditating, eating fruits and vegetables, getting regular checkups at the doctor; all these things can bring happiness to a person’s life. Self-care plays a huge role in happiness. You wake up in the morning and you have your daily routine skin care set up ready for you to start the day. You take a nice long shower and rejuvenate yourself to wake yourself up and start your maybe long day. You take the time to style your hair and pick a nice outfit. Having a healthy breakfast and taking your vitamins to keep yourself healthy in both mind and body. You decide to go for a run or take your dog out for a walk. Everyone’s routine is different. There is no right or wrong way to start someone's day. Group three goes into detail and explains how self-care can help make someone happy and the positive effects having a healthy lifestyle can bring a person. Self-care for a girl can be very different from a guy and they explain the differences and impacts thoroughly and clearly. They gave great examples and in-depth information on how our bodies health is important for our happiness. I was very impressed with this group’s presentation. It was my favorite presentation out of all the others.
I have learned so much about happiness and how it affects us differently. Whether it's self-care, family, religion, friends, work, or mental and physical health; everyone should be happy. There are people around the world who suffer from drugs, alcohol, and physical or mental abuse, or have no free will to choose their own happiness. They believe that happiness is not an option for them, and they have given up hope. Treating yourself and finding what makes you happy is so important and can help you through life struggles and obstacles. Happiness has no true meaning. It has many meanings. It could be a warm feeling inside you or a person. It can even be an object. Everyone deserves happiness. Everyone did amazing on these presentations and I could tell everyone worked very hard. GREAT JOB EVERYBODY!!!
Very good post. I agree these were very good presentations.
